Family Session Outfit Inspiration
DO’s:
Wear solid colors that compliment one another. Neutrals are my absolute favorite and photograph like a dream! Think blushes, tans, creams, whites, faint blues, pastel pinks, or light teals! They give a soft light and airy vibe.
Mix textures… think ruffles, frills, lace, knit, suede, ect. Layering can create gorgeous texture too!
Coordinate but don’t completely MATCH.
Have the boys/men of the family wear khakis or lighter colored shorts/pants. This is a personal preference if you desire a more light and airy image. Khakis will help achieve this look over jeans or dark pants.
DONT’s:
Wear clothing with words, images, or busy patterns. They are distracting and take away from YOU!
Go crazy with patterns; they can make the image unpleasing to look at if more than one person has a busy pattern. Instead try to pull colors from one pattern for the rest of the family!
Wear Neons; they don’t photograph as nicely and can reflect unflattering light on your skin. They can change the entire tone of the photograph.
Pro Tip: Start with moms outfit, what are you most comfortable in… you may be bending over, running, & picking up children during the session! Flowy gowns are always reccomended, photographing the movement of the dress is so beautiful.
After choosing mom’s outfit, choose 3 other colors that coordinate and stick to those for the rest of the family!
